This unit will focus on free time activities, sports stars, technology and using the past, present and future tense to make plans and to talk about plans.

Reading - students will complete an end-of-module reading assessment.

Term 2: Mi estilo de vida

This unit is all about students learning about typical food eaten in Hispanic countries. Students will learn to talk about their mealtimes, food trends, comparing old and new eating habits, illnesses, injuries and future plans for their health and wellbeing.

Term 3: Mi barrio y yo

This unit is all about describing their local area and Colombian cities using the present, past and future tense. They will describe geographical features in their region and also learn language to go shopping in Spain. Finally, they will discuss the pros and cons of different cities.

Listening - students will complete and end-of-module listening assessment.

Term 4: Revision for mock exams

Students will be revisiting modules 1 - 6 covered during Years 9 and 10. They will be preparing for their listening, reading and writing mock exams and therefore be focusing heavily on exam skills.

Year 10 will be taking their mock exam at the end of this term - they will be sitting listening, reading and writing past papers.

Term 5: Speaking exam preparation

Students will be practising and preparing for all aspects of the end-of-year speaking exam. They will be writing a presentation on their chosen topic that can last up to a minute. They will be practising photo cards, role plays and general conversations.

Students will take their mock speaking exam at the end of this term - it will be a role play, photo card, one minute presentation and general conversation, the same as in their real GCSE speaking exam.

Term 6: Un mundo para todos

In this unit students explore the natural wonders of the hispanic world. They look at climate change, the environment and solutions for solving global issues. Students also learn to talk about what they do to help their community and what their future plans are to help the planet.

Reading- Pupils will complete an end of module reading assessment.
