Art Overview
Curriculum

Term 1: Personal Investigation Continued

Students will continue to work on their personal investigation. At this point in the personal investigation, they will begin to refine the ideas created at the end of term 6 and the summer holidays. Students will continue to write the next phase of their Personal study, the 1000-3000 word Essay, which is assessed alongside the practical work.

Students will receive regular feedback through verbal discussion, peer assessment and target setting within lessons.Written feedback will also be provided by peers and teaching staff where appropriate to support progress and reporting.Work will be assessed against the 4 AQA assessment objectives resulting in a grade from A*-E. Component 1: Personal Investigation Practical work and Personal Study Essay are worth 60% of the final grade at A Level.

Term 2: Personal Investigation - Continued

Students will continue to refine their practical work and write the next phase of their Personal study, the 1000-3000 word Essay, which is assessed alongside the practical work. During this term, the students will complete some of their practical work in exam conditions during a 15 hour mock exam taking place during 3 school days.

Students will receive regular feedback through verbal discussion, peer assessment and target setting within lessons.Written feedback will also be provided by peers and teaching staff where appropriate to support progress and reporting.Work will be assessed against the 4 AQA assessment objectives resulting in a grade from A*-E. Component 1: Personal Investigation Practical work and Personal Study Essay are worth 60% of the final grade at A Level.

Term 3: Personal Investigation - Completion

Students will use the first 4 weeks of Term 3 to complete final outcomes for the practical component as well as finish the 1000-3000 word Essay which is graded alongside the work. This unit's final deadline is the end of January when all work must be submitted.

Students will receive regular feedback through verbal discussion, peer assessment and target setting within lessons.Written feedback will also be provided by peers and teaching staff where appropriate to support progress and reporting. Work will be assessed against the 4 AQA assessment objectives resulting in a grade from A*-E. Component 1: Personal Investigation Practical work and Personal Study Essay are worth 60% of the final grade at A Level.

Term 4: Component 2: Externally Set Assignment

Component 2: Externally Set Assignment is set by the exam board AQA. On the 1st February, students will receive a set of Starting Points or 'themes' to pick from. Students must then create a body of practical work on this theme which demonstrates the Assessment Objectives.

Work will be assessed against the 4 AQA assessment objectives resulting in a grade from A*-E. Component 2: Externally Set Assigment is worth 40% of the final grade at A Level.

Term 5: Component 2: Externally Set Assignment

Component 2: Externally Set Assignment is set by the exam board AQA. Students will continue to develop and refine a body of practical work on their chosen starting point. The work produced on this theme must demonstrate the Assessment Objectives. All work is handed in on the final day of the exam in April when the course will be complete.

Work will be assessed against the 4 AQA assessment objectives resulting in a grade from A*-E. Component 2: Externally Set Assigment is worth 40% of the final grade at A Level. The final practical outcome will be produced in school, in exam conditions over 15 hours, spread across 3 school days. On the first day of the exam, all practical work, including sketchbooks must be brought into the Art room and must not leave at any time. Work will be secured at the end of each day and students must not work on this outside of the exam. At the end of the 3rd day, all work must be submitted and cannot be modified in any way after this point. After the final day of the exam, the course is completed and all work handed in. There is no essay for this component.
